Let Us Now Praise Famous Municipal Outdoor Amphitheaters

Pass these around before concerts and athletic events down there.
Washington Park in 1921.   At left is Bedford Avenue.

Off to the left, the new Municipal Outdoor Amphitheater had yet to be imagined.
What of the skyline from the cheap seats, now and then?

Next time you're stuck in construction on the Crosstown, recall how 90 years ago people walked down Bedford to watch foot races there.

The West End hills are visible in the distance in the zoomable version.

With lights these days, project frontier Pittsburgh up on a curtain at night, along the walls of whatever scrapes the sky.
Before the wrecking ball swings, open the roof for a year.
Have events fall, winter and spring.

Think of skating with your kids one week, and at an open air hilltop theater and/or community picnic the next.  (The kind where whole neighborhoods of people from out in the region visit Pittsburgh with their kids and go on historical walking tours with bits of the old Igloo.)

Gathering on hill tops to behold labors of love together is what we do here in Pittsburgh
